Oxidation and carbon residue buildup reduce the efficiency of fuel pumps and fuel filters and can result in expensive fuel injector failure. Heavy carbon buildup on fuel injectors reduces their optimal efficiency. This leads to poor spray pattern, reduced injector cooling and flow, and inefficient combustion. These buildups lead to poor fuel economy and shorten component life.
